Sport of Fencing
- Fencing, the art of swordsmanship, has been practiced for centuries. Early on, it involved deadly combat or the notorious "duel." Now, it is a quest for Olympic gold.
- Fencing is the ultimate mind-body sport. The complex nature of fencing has led some to refer to it as "physical chess." It develops speed, agility, balance and intelligence -- its participants must make slit-second decisions and take immediate actions. Yet, it is a sport that can be enjoyed by a vast array of enthusiasts -- regardless of gender, age or even body type. Furthermore, both full-bodied and the physically disabled can participate!
- Whether you want to sword-play for fun, aspire to become an advanced or Olympic fencer, or simply develop a taste for the sport, the Kentucky Division has a number of clubs to advance the traditions of fencing.
- The Kentucky Division serves a diverse community that encompasses a wide range of ages, fencing abilities, socio-economic levels and beliefs, but we all share a common love of fencing and desire to promote the sport as part of the United States Fencing Association (USFA).
